#SVTMelfest 2:a Chansen

So, finally the second chance contest, all the number 3 and 4 from the semifinals meet each other in duels for the 4 last spots in the final.

The duels are:

And looking at my iTunes statistics of play counts I have this:

So let us start with the four songs I think will pass through to the finals. Then I will guess:

  • “Surface”
  • “Ballerina”
  • “Boys with emotions”
  • “Piga och dräng”

But is it in line with what I want? Let’s see:

“Vem e som oss” and “Surface”. A hopeless party tune meet a soft ballad I actually don’t feel that much about. I would send “Vem e som oss” even if it’s not a good song, but please some Swedish language in the finals.

“Ballerina” and “Talking in my sleep”, These two songs have changed a lot in my mind since I heard them first. “Ballerina” going up and “Talking in my sleep” going down. I thought “Talking in my sleep” was a song that would be better just listen to it. But to my surprise I find “Ballerina” to be the one gaining on not watching it. So here I will send “Ballerina” to the finals (even if it never will be as good as Shanghais “Ballerina”).

“Boys with emotions” and “We are one” – two songs I really don’t want in the finals at all, but I pick “Boys with emotions” even if it is a song for hipsters playing latte daddies. The lyrics makes me go crazy.

Duel 4 is the opposite to duel 3, I want both in the finals. Even if “Vamos amigos” is much better seeing the act than on your playlist and “Piga och dräng” was a dissapointment from the semi. I like more Swedish lyrics in the finals, and I like some Spanish in the finals. But at the end… I pick “Piga och dräng” here, just cause of the language.

So, then we will see how it will go, but from what I understand this evening is not about the competition it is the show with the famous Swedish Melodifestivalen artists coming in to make this the TV event of the year. Let’s see.

TGIF – With the learning French twist.

“Still struggle” I hear my self saying, still a problem with the French language. In fact I also start to have a problem with Fridays cause I have French class on Fridays. Sounded good when we planned it but now after two months of changes, postponed sessions etc I can see I need to change the day in the week I take the classes.

The choice of Fridays is on paper the best choice, not likely to have late meetings, not likely to be away on a business trip or any plans for the evening. But no one counted on the complete close down of the brain at 17h00 on Fridays.

So the second best day to have some kind of continuity in the lessons is Mondays. For the same reasons as Fridays really, not likely on a business trip, no after work activities and late meetings mostly happen between Tuesdays and Thursdays.

So I have now asked Inlingua to look into the possibility to change the day for my classes. We will see if they manage to do this or not.

But deep at heart I really want the classes to be before work or even better, over the lunch hour. But since we don’t have any office space to take the classes it is kind of impossible. And no teacher seems to think a 6 o’clock class is on their menu.

So we will see what happens in the future.

Have a nice TGIF now,

2020 – Not a good year for stones

Yesterday, kind of a surprise, a new Kidney Stone was brought into the world. I knew I had a few coming, both kidneys been working hard for a few weeks, but to translate it into pain I was kind of expecting more like gravel than stones. The one popping out yesterday is not enormous but bigger that the passed pain told me. So it was a surprise.

But it seems, like I said in the beginning of 2020 this year is a Kidney Stone year. 9 stones of different sizes already passed, all from stones to gravel – I now only expect a cliff in need of medical care so they look me in for a few days to crush it.

Until then I either thanks heaven for Spasmofen or my colleagues not to ask when I almost chew their heads of as an answer on a simple query, just cause I am in pain.

Corona virus – Panic

Just a thought… What do you all think about sending a kind request to the media to change the Corona reports from reporting on how many people dead and write that “98% – 99% of infected people survives”?

To report on how many infected persons whom died from the outbreak they boost the feeling of some infectious armageddon.

So keep up the reports, change from scary to survival facts and tell people to buy a pocket bottle of hand alcohol and use it, don’t go to work if you feel sick and beside this, if not in bad health overall, live your life as it was a normal flue season.

Use the 80s as a comfort blanket

In late 2019, when it was announced that the album “Heart first” will be released on 2020, I was among the first people to through myself on the website and order the CD. Cause this is a CD to own, not just to download. It’s my, over all times, favorite album and the old vinyl have sounded just like that, an old vinyl for ages.

And the CD arrived and a period of 80s music been like a comfort blanket, just cozy and on repeat. Re-discover, not only Hazell, but also other High Energy and PWL music.

The inner teenager kind of celebrates, it’s only a hairbrush and an mirror missing to put it all together.

Enjoy the 80s folks!

Arrived today

Sp finally the new issue of Classic Pop Magazine, the special edition on “The hit Factory”, PWL arrived.

Buying it I had no idea that I would received all four different covers but i did, so now there they are, all four of them.

And what made me most excited just brows fast through the magazine was to find out that there is a Dead or Alive 19 disc compilation “Sophisticated Boom Boxx” out there somewhere. How is it even possible to have missed that?

4th semi over, #Melfest

So Sweden reached the end of this years Melodifestivalen semi finals, and the 7 last songs been presented. SO next week it’s time for the second chance contest (all songs ending 3 and 4 compete for the last 4 spots in the final) and then the week after the Grand Finale.

So how was yesterdays 7 songs?

Frida Öhrn – “We are one”, not my cup of thé. Feels a bit dated ans might have worked as an Eurovision Entry in the 90s.

William Stridh – “Molnljus”, William supposed to attract the young girls votes made a good job doing that (I guess) cause he ended up on 5th place. The song felt strange but it might grow on you. We will see.

Nanne – “Carpool Karaoke”, a strange song. More rock than Nannes usually present in Melodifestivalen but at the end at least a song, a melody. But I am surprised that she was allowed to compete since rules say no brands allowed, and “Carpool Karaoke” is both a TVshow (not aired on SVT) and a brand. So if she had won the selection how would EBU looked at this? Most likely approved of it with the strong connections between Eurovision and Sweden.

Victor Crone – “Trouble waters”, Victor competed in Melfest a few years ago and in Eurovision last year but for Estonia. His song this year is really a part two of his Estonian entry and 100% expected. The only thing to discuss here are the fact that Victor is, what we would say in Sweden, “grabbig”. More or less translated into English as “Laddish”. His appearance is to cis man that it’s hard to believe it’s not an act. Nothing wrong but fun to watch.

Ellen & Simon – “Surface”, Undecided if I like it or not, its a ballad, a duett with two amazing voices, but somethings off. I don’t know what.

Jakob Karlberg – “Om du tror att jag saknar dig”, Today only one day after the contest yesterday I don’t remember a thing about this song, and that is not good sign. I do remember his hair though, and the guitar changing colors. But this is a song contest so I think you are supposed to remember the song.

Hanna Ferm – “Brave”, This is a hard one… I do not particular like Hanna as a singer, she seems to me (without ever meet her so I can be 100% wrong) like a snotty person. And I do not give much for all the people try to convince us that her voice is amazing. She is not an awful singer but far from amazing, very mediocre. But no one can take away that she has the song this year. An amazing little pop tune which stick with you like glue, so good for her. But she still look and sounds like any female formar East state countries in Eurovision. She could be Ukrainian, Polish, Azeri, Armenian or Georgian. Plastic is my choice of word.

But at the end Hanna and Victor was sent to the final so now we can start to listen to songs still in the race, and after next Saturday I will turn my books to zero again and see if there is any adjustments needed on my list. But for now I think Hanna Ferm have the best Eurovision song, not necessary my favorite but for Eurovision, slam dunk.

RATP celebration of SL

This morning, without any reason at all, RATP (The Paris local transport system) decided to make a unexpected celebration of SL (The Stockholm local transport system) by adapting the “no sense” approach between information given and what actually happens.

Bus 31 – next departure in 12 minutes, the bus arrived in 2 So missed that one. Bus 21 – next departure in 13 minutes, the bus arrived within 4 minutes and best of all the Metro ligne 13, direction St Denis, no traffic at all (scared me cause the strike here is actually still ongoing) and the opposite direction 28 minutes. Have no idea if any trains eventually showed up cause I took the ligne 21.

But it is #TGIF and the end of this week feels warm, fuzzy and cozy. My new colleague whom I meet for the first time in Geneva last week will visit the Paris office today in a phase 2 introduction so not much else will be done today. So important work without doing much work is a perfect end of the work week, n’est pas?

Brioni commercials

Walking around in Paris, more or less walking around in any city or village in the world you are exposed to advertising. It is something we need to get used too from a young age, wanted or not. So I walking around learning about how many new friends I will get if I just buy the new Coca Cola Mango or how much better I will look with some Balenciagas on my feets the messages kind of not stick. So the new Brioni advert all over Paris have been there for some time now and I have seen it without seeing it.

To add to this story you need to know that I, without glasses, can’t see anything further away than 2 meters, so today when I was unintentional pushed closer to the advert I learned that the guy in the picture is Brad Pitt. For sure I would never been able to point him out as Brad Pitt in the picture below.

He is born 1963 and my first thought after the epiphany who actually were in that picture was “God he’s gettin’ OLD (not looking old though)” without a thought that he is only 1 year above me.

In any case, here he is:

Would you have been able to recognize him without reading his name in the left upper corner?

For you who don’t speak Swedish it’s also a fact the Pitt sin Swedish means penis. Just so you know.
