Europe Voted

Not much to say really, first we voted for Eurovision and now for the European Parliament. The favorite won in Eurovision and the favorites… Not so much won in the EU election. At least not in all countries.

The two I am more connected too, Sweden and France ended up in a split. As always, in Sweden, all parties say they won even if the lost votes since the last election. I am surprised to find Centern, The Green Party and Liberal party with so much support. None of them is even close to have any confidence in my book.

In France, O la la, Macron only second, I don’t care who won in France as long as Macron failed… I wished for a bigger difference and his liberal views to end up like 4th of 5th party in France. But still not winning is a step in the right direction.

And all art is not pretty….

75 Part 2

As said yesterday I really don’t want this site to be about anything else than the fun parts of life but I dedicated the blog posts over two days to politics cause I feel it’s needed after the retire at 75 proposal last week.

So I continue where I stopped yesterday with the new extreme Liberalism movement sweeping over Sweden but also France with Macron in power.

Let me start with saying that I don’t think Macron would have reached the Presidency going up against any other French politician than Le Pen. And his popularity is much higher outside France than within the country.

And his goal, without a doubt, is to make Europe a United States of Europe with EU as the only Governmental body and at the end the French population will say stop to that so not even he can believe he will succeed with that mission.

But with Merkel gone Macron see his chance to take over as the “President” of the European Union something his burning ego for sure will take on even if he most likely then will face a French public accusing him for ignore France before power in Brussels.

What is more interesting is his “Europe open border” politics, well adapted by the liberals in Sweden who very naive see this move by Macron as globalism and humanity. I do not suggest I am right but I will present you with my theory on Macron and his struggle to stay in power.

His view on open borders to Europe is his chance to meet Le Pen on his own turf, France. Fact, France, as one of the major colonizers in history is in many ways obliged to take in immigrants from the former colonies and many of them North African and Middle Eastern. By open borders and an even distribution of immigrants within the EU members states he will be able to show the French public that France take in less immigrants since he got into power. And to stay in power he must do that cause France is one terror attack from a presidency under Le Pen. A risk he can’t ignore.

So when the Europeans see Macron as a leader and as a person with fresh ideas democratic views and care for refugees and immigrants I wish they looked a bit into what his goal and objectives might be or shall we say her goals and objectives? Cause if the above is my theory on Macron and his take on liberalism I am at the same time 100% sure that the one really governing France is his wife Madame Brigitte Macron.

75

I do not like to use this space for politics but it happens from time to time that something is so strange or unbelievable a Tweet is not enough space to air the big “?” flying around in my brain. So today and tomorrow it will be politics.

The age of retirement is up for discussion again in Sweden (Also in Macron France, so I guess in all of Europe) and this time the suggestion is retirement when 75 years.

So far no discussion if this is all the population or just within some professions but I guess its all over, tout le monde, cause the suggestion comes from the former Prime Minister in Sweden, Mr Reinfeldt who for sure had a really stressful job but still behind a desk, driven around in a car eating well prepared free meals at conferences and meetings without any thoughts on running from work to try to get the kids out of daycare before they close (in the middle of winter when the commuter trains standing still).

Most likely the stress as Prime Minister is another kind of pressure than years of heavy lifts in the health care business, construction or the industry at a assembly line.

I am lucky to have a desk job, even if my back already start to ache and the eyes get dry from looking at a computer screan all day it’s not even close to the injuries on the body of a care assistant after 45 years in the profession. And when I already feel (I have 10 years at least left to work before retirement) that I start to look forward to that day I can only guess how people with physical labor feel hearing that they need to work 10 more years!

Then there is others who still is healthy and want to work longer, so let them, no one should be forced to retire but let it be from their free will.

And seriously, would you like to hear from a cockpit that “Today our Captain celebrates his 74 birthday” or “Your surgeon just clean up and prepare for the surgery, it is his 74 birthday tomorrow by the way” Is that a professions where 75 is a good age to retire? Or is the 75 only good for the once at the end of the working life food chain?

The same Mr Reinfeldt, when he were in power said that the pension system will be saved by an free immigration to Sweden, open borders and everyone will of course get a job on day 2 from their arrival. So far good, if it was true. Immigrants do not find work as soon as they arrive and when so called “simple jobs” are taken out from the loop of professions (taken over by technology) less find work fast. And now the new liberal movement continue this open border politics and add “Family reunion” so the pension system will be under even more pressure from 65+ not finding a job and work to 75 must be provided for by tax money.

The theory don’t add up in my mind and the open border liberal idea gets more and more extreme and seriously the liberals today look more and more as one of the most extreme movements in the History of the world.

In any case, we will see where we end up but the first step to stop these ideas will be the EU elections in May 2019 and to manage this you can vote on anything from the left ving to the right wing as long as the party you vote for not a part of the Liberal Group in the European Parliament.

Finally a good decision

So after many many years as a citizen in a country belonging to the European Union they actually voted for something good? I am flabbergasted. NO stupid daylight saving from 2021.

OK – Maybe not seen the last of this yet and they look at a final setting I don’t agree upon but still. My number 1 option is to NOT put the time one hour forward at all. This suggestion is to do it but never put it back. Even if I don’t understand why, I like to know that at 12h00 the sun is peaking.

But it is small step in the right direction so thank you EU

Daylight saving

Maybe the best thing EU ever done

So finally we might get rid of the stupid idea of daylight saving time in Europe. Face the facts, Sweden don’t need it, if anything we need winter daylight saving. And to move the the daylight to appear in the evening during winter one hour is a joke. We need to adjust the “normal” time with 4 – 5 hours. Try that as a project…

Sweden – Election on Sunday

National election 2018

The election on Sunday in Sweden might be the most exciting election in modern times in Sweden. But it might also be a “same procedure” since Swedes more or less always protest in polls before an election and then crawl back to the mother ship.

But who knows it might be a new era for Sweden. We, who lives/lived in Sweden the past 50 – 40 years, know that the picture of Sweden abroad is 100% based on the good years which ended early in the early 90s. Today Sweden is more like other European countries high unemployment, problems with immigration and so on.

On the more social side Swedes are as always a bit rude, shy before you learn to know them and panic if they not a part of a pack. Alone? Stand out? Take control of your own life and decisions? NO! And a part of the Swedish herd thinking is that Swedes are one of the most, by the state, controlled citizens.

Might sound a bit hard cause life is easy and nice in Sweden and I love my birth country but I think the world need to change the views on Sweden to in full understand whats happening now with the upcoming election.

So on Monday morning we will know the result from Sundays election and a few days before… Let me guess that the Nationalist party will gain votes since last but far away from what’s been in the polls, The Social democrats will most likely end up with more votes than expected based on polls. The alliance (for right wing parties) influence on politics in the future is 100% depending on the Christ democrats manage to pass the 4% they need to stay in the parliament.

And Moi? ah, I have already voted since I live abroad and the last day for us was early this week – and without giving any clues on what I finally decided it was without a doubt an easier task to know who I won’t vote for then the once I liked and decide between them.

The picture? Oh yes, my colleague though UNICORN and ended up in an office pride celebration…
