Time to sum up the music year 2019

So we finally there, time to check the iTunes statistics and actually see what I was listen to during 2019 and as natural order I start with the most listen to Melodifestivalen songs followed by the most listen to Eurovision Song Contest songs.

Then upcoming weekend focus on the complete iTunes library and what song, album and artist got my attention passed year.

But today, Melodifestivalen 2019, looking at the amount of playtimes for the Melodifestivalen songs 2019 it was a bad year, a few songs stand out but the rest did not reach a lot of plays.

  1. Mina Bränder – Zeana feat Anis Don Demina
  2. Ashes to ashes – Anna Bergendahl
  3. Känner dig – Anton Hagman
  4. Habibi – Dolly Style
  5. Too late for love (single version) – John Lundvik
  6. Ashes to ashes (Soundfactory radio) – Anna Bergendahl
  7. Somebody wants – The lovers of Valdero
  8. Tempo – Margaret
  9. I do – Arvingarna
  10. Stormbringer – Pegan Fury
  11. I do (English version) – Arvingarna
  12. Too late for love (Palego remix) – John Lundvik
  13. Hello (Remix) – Mohombo & Youssou N´Dour
  14. I love it – Oscar Enestad
  15. Om om och om igen – Omar Rudberg
  16. Norrsken – Jon Henrik Fjällgren
  17. Victorious – Lina Hedlund
  18. Not with me – Wiktoria
  19. Kärleken finns kvar – Ann-Louise Hanson
  20. On my own – Bishara

I think even I will be surprised if any of the songs end up on the general list over most played songs in 2019.

The final semifinal – Melodifestivalen

Gosh, this was a tough one… Again some songs would have qualified for the final easily from the three other semifinals and as always my top 4 turned out a bit different from the final result but for once not much.

Pagan Fury. Not as bad as I though it would be. The song “Stormbringer” reminds a bit of one of the Roger Pontares songs and a younger Pontare might have been the perfect match to this song. Not a favorite but more than OK.

Anton Hagman, a young pop lad cute as a piñata birthday cake. The song… Outside my taste range but what bugged me the most was not the song it was the tattoos!!! I have no memory of those from his last time in Melodifestivalen and even if they have nothing to do with the contest (a music contest) they turned out to be disturbing. Cause with his look and image they do not fit in. That said a nice pop song but not my cup of tea.

Lisa Ajax with “Torn” was hyped by journalists before the show but this was not good, a very boring ballad wish it was a Sanna Nielsen song. Failed completely in my ranking of all songs 2019.

Arvingarna “I Do”, for once a real Schlager. I know Lina Hedlund last week tried to bring Schlager back but she took the Charlotte path while Vikingarna took it updated dansband. I really liked this entry even if they don’t stand a chance in the final. But hopefully they will pass from the 2:nd chance next week and at least reach the final. But what happened to Caspers thighs? He looked like he spend his free time as an Olympic skater. HUGE.

Bishara, “On my own”. OK, he was so 100% clear for the final. Swedes love a story like this and his story before he entered the stage telling the viewers he’s nervous, stage fright etc… wow SVT really wanted him to pass. But, even if he is so talented, no question about that, the song… My God it NEVER ENDED, it went on and on and on… No surprises at all. With that said there is no doubt he will be in the top in the final and he will be the crush of all teenage girls (and some boys) after the contest and sell well. But for me… No I do not find the song that good.

Ann-Louise Hanson, her 14th entry into Melodifestivalen and as a “oldie” she took her entry to the 2019, something Jan Malmsjö and Arja Saijonmaa failed at. I had at least wanted her in the 2nd chance contest next week if not passing to the final directly. She is one of the victims from SVTs stupid rule (as its been the last years) to start with a bad semifinal and get more and more good songs in the same heats week by week.

John Lundvik started his time on the Melodifestivalen 2019 stage slow and I was like “what?” but after a while this song grow to a potential Eurovision winner. He has it all this year, the song, he is amazingly good looking, a body made for a centerfold in PlayGirl, the voice and sexy as hell. Add his image of being 100% genuine and really sympathetic (I hope its true) he is like the perfect performer with a perfect song. Can only say good work John, Good work!

Last night ended up, for me:

  1. John Lundvik
  2. Arvingarna
  3. Bishara
  4. Ann-Louise Hanson
  5. Pagan Fury
  6. Anton Hagman
  7. Lisa Ajax
