Finally, the Eurovision Movie released on netflix

After speculations, rumors and wild guesses the Eurovision movie finally reached us via Netflix streaming services. And let us be frank, the film is better than I thought it would be. But as a film about Eurovision… No not really, it is a classic love story with Eurovision as the back drop. It could have been the same story but with Idol, or America got talent as the venue, but they made a choice and went for Eurovision.

If I were Icelandic I might not be so positive to how my country is put forward as a step behind the rest of Europe but I guess we still can joke about Icelandic white citizens even if it is on the edge of being an insult.

So how much is Eurovision in this story? Not much really, as a fan you can find so many wrongs that it’s not worth to go into it, cause you are not supposed to see the film as an attempt to raise the worlds awareness of The Eurovision Song Contest, but a few things that is funny… Sweden compete with a rap song, won’t happen in many years to come. The few full time songs on the Soundtrack is actually not bad, what I wish for is that the songs they only recorded as 1:30 minute snippets had been given a full length version on the Soundtrack, and the best “Eurovision” moment in the film is the Medley with many Eurovision artists doing a sing a long during the Russian delegations party. Those minutes are actually a fiesta for Eurovision fans, and very welled played.

Salvador Sobrals cameo is also a nice touch as well as the part of the Russian singer Alexander Lemtov (played by Dan Stevens), a role where you kind of wait for him to be a East State bad guy and end up in not being that at all. The part is there to show the finger to the Russian LGBT laws, but very very much “under the cover” to not upset mother Russia.

So, what to finally say? If you are a huge Eurovision fan expecting a Eurovision extravaganza, you will be disappointed, if you sit down to watch a rom com in a musical environment you will enjoy the movie.

If you buy the Soundtrack, it will make you go crazy that a few songs only are max 2 minutes long, but the final ballad will make you smile every time you hear it – and I will not be surprised if the real Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will put some of the songs in the shows interval acts.

Enjoy,

Björn

Back home

As said before, working from home is both better and more effective but only when the technical side of things work.

Today I had some trouble with the connections so tasks added up and it ended a bit stressful, but still… Compere to sit in an open space office working from home is way better. It might be different if your working place provides you with your own office and a door to close.

Apart from that not much happen today, no need to go out and do any shopping so its been a complete day without pants. Or at least nothing else than sweatpants.

And remember, soon time for the Eurovision movie

The Will Ferrell Eurovision movie soon here

2018 in June I posted this link and now its finally time, the Will Ferrell movie on Eurovision will be on Netflix in June 2020. A single with Will Ferrell & My Marianne (Molly Sandén) been released, “Volcano Man”, unfortunately its not long enough, only just under 2 minutes but it fits into the Eurovision concept. It actually sounds just like the Norwegian entry to Eurovision in 2019 by Keiino, “Spirit in the sky”.

At the moment the funniest thing ever is to remind the fans whom liked Keiino a lot in 2019 about the fact that the two songs remind of each other. As you know Keiino won the televote in 2019 but did not receive enough jury points to win. And the fans of “Spirit in the sky” still going on about this in social media. “The real winner of Eurovision”, “Norway was robbed” etc. The same guys (yes it is most guys) for some reason hate Will Ferrels song, so to make them really upset it is so much fun to talk about how alike the songs are… Try it…

Note: Only work on Eurovision / Keiino fans 🙂

Will Ferrell stars in Eurovision Movie

The news kind of exploded yesterday, Will Ferrell to do the Movie on Eurovision Song Contest. For years now the word was that Sacha Baron Cohen worked on such idea but now we will see Will Ferrell in the role as… Christer Björkman????

In any case, I suppose it will be a comedy like the “Blades of glory”, and I hope for a soundtrack with 26 new songs composed by well known composers from the Eurovision World and Eurovision history. Mix them, not only the once from the last years competitions. The opportunities here is enormous to make a classic soundtrack.

I really do wish that they take the task seriously and go all in to make a good movie and even if Eurovision can be joked about not do everything to make it cheezy.

Good Luck Mr Ferrell, a whole world of fans will be watching and judge you on a scale from 1 to 12 points
